Jackron Pillars

The Jackron Pillars.
So I plan on attacking the Jackron Pillars area and with that in mind I needed to prepare a few Pillars for the fun that we have planned out in the event on the table. So here is a little bit of terrain fun. First the idea of these pillars is that they will be shooting lightning between them. As far as the history behind the area we did not really come up with a backstory but my thought is that the area has huge build ups of energy that has been stored and collected over hundreds of years as a result of a science experiment gone wrong. The result is fields and fields of these pillars that are sitting there discharging and collecting this electric energy. First I decided that I would make them out of a wooden dowel I needed six so I cut them up and I had these little jewelry beads that I figured I could turn into electrical nodes or something...
Once I had them all cut up and glued I thought that they looked pretty good. I normally just use a Super Glue type of glue but for some reason the metal beads did not want to stick to the wood. So I ended up needing to drill just into the wooden dowel where I was planning the beads so the super glue had somewhere to grab and then the beads stuck just fine. I think I lose a little bit of my finger tips every time I glue things together.

Priming them was a little tricky. I started and the power of the can blew them over. One of them fell right off my deck and I sent one of my kids down to grab it as I continued priming the rest of them a little more carefully. Just my luck the can runs out as I am finishing up and the one that fell only gets half primed. Made for a laugh.
Boom! Painted up and I even took the time to glue on some grass. I think they look great for the amount of time I put into them. it was a simple brush on blue, add white brush that on, add white and Brush that on. Then brush on White. I numbered them because in the area we will determine what 2 pillars link up and shoot Electricity between them and hit all the unsuspecting models. If doubles are rolled then that pillar explodes in a fury of electricity and damages all models around it. Placement of the pillars is random and it should add another element of chance to the game.
Here is a picture with the flash on, it really brings out the colors and makes them look electric. I also took a minute and glued some rocks on bases that will be used as moveable Boulders for a different area.

The little shrubs give the little rocks a little bit of life, well I think so. Plus when else will I be able  to use the word little three times in a sentence. It was pretty fun to get my kids to go rock hunting once they knew what I was planning.
