Trolls Turn One
I decided to attack the area with the Jackron pillars. That is also the reason I decided to make them a few weeks ago. Me and my brother decided to shorten the time spent talking about our lists we would share them with each other once we had both decided on who/what our list would be. So after I let him know where we would be fighting we went to work building our lists. Here is what we decided.
Band of Heroes Primal Terrors
Madrak Ironhide Thragosh Prophet of Everblight
Dire Troll Mauler Ammok the Truthbearer
Troll Axer Golab
Troll Basher Raek
Trollkin Champ Hero Stinger
Fell Caller Hero Blighted Rotwings Min unit
Krielstone Bearer Min unit Blighted Warspears Max unit
Trollkin Champs Max unit Warspear Chieftain
Skaldi Bonehammer Blighted Warmongers Min unit
So after I looked over his list I felt bad for him because he had an uphill battle. My list almost counters everything about his list. First thing I saw was POW 17 Spears with assault and thought "I need to stay away from that". Then I noticed that he is paying for Tough on all his stuff and even takes the Truthbearer to get rise to go with his vengeance moves. I took my theme for the 2" on deployment but because I get RFP on my warriors it basically ignores his whole build. Anyhow we took it to the table to play out our lists. We rolled for first and he won and took first so we deployed and this is what it looked like. Oh we also rolled the outlast scenario.
Legion one he runs everything up into position. He had his Warspears assign their prey ability onto my champs tho he debated if he wanted that because I put them on the other side of the table.

I ran them in a brick style formation and having the Tactician ability to see through and move through my own models sure made order of activation easy. All my models are (you see what you get) and he had a few stand in's. I think the gaming gods were against him for using my models to try and take me on.
Troll turn one Stone moved and Awakened the stone and also put up the armor since his assault can reach some good range. I purposely ran my champs up just out of reach to be charged so he could move and throw or charge and throw with my intent to be able to pop my feat to heal up and charge into his lines and remove a bunch of models I put the Axer up there as a little bait just in case he wanted something to go after. I ran the Basher up and took cover on a pillar. I blocked LOS to Madrak with my Mauler.
Legion two he decided to only move 2 Warspears close enough to throw at my Axer and out of range of my champs knowing that I would have charged in. He missed with both. The Rotwings run into the zone on the right. I thought he was going to run his Warmongers to prevent a charge or just jam up my guys but he pulled them back leaving only one in the zone on the left and out of my tiny 9" threat range on my champs. He measured out a few options on where to put his Raek but ended up backing him off also. He runs up his Stinger and advances Thragosh up and puts counter spray on both.
Troll two, I was sad that there was not a ton for me to crash into and there was nothing to heal up with my feat. I decided that I would still pop my feat and measuring out some options I decided to advance up my Mauler and Rage the Axer to try and remove as many Warspears as possible. Madrak steps up and throws a boosted Rathrok and takes out one Warspear and ricochet into Ammok and one shoots him also. I have never before in all my years of gaming taken out 2 with Madrak's thrown axe in one turn. Since his Warspears have set defense or some anti charge ability, I end up charging his Shredder with my Axer and with boosted damage on my thresher I clear off 2 Warspears and his Shredder. I run my champs up to protect my other beasts and my caster just in case he pulls out some tricks. I score one scenario point.
Legion three, with Madrak's feat up he cannot charge so he walks up with his spears and attacks my Axer and does a little. He moves the Rotwings so he can charge something next turn but stays out of range to get charged and protects the zone he walks one up and attacks my Fell Caller in that zone. He activates his Warmongers one attacks the Axer and one stays in the Zone on the left and the third moves closer to the middle. Thragosh moves up and finishes the Axer blowing him up and leaving a hazardous area right next to his flag. His Raek moves and jumps into my back line and puts 7 on my Champ Hero. I score my second point.
Troll three, Madrak aims and chucks Rathrok and kills another Warspear ricochets into a warmonger and sets a new record for how many models he has killed with a flying Rathrok in a single game. Champs charge in finally and tear up everything. Finishing his Spears and leaving him with only one Warmonger that took some damage and putting Golab at about half health. I move my Mauler into position for cleanup next turn. All my stonescribes with weapons try to hit his Raek with no success and the Champ Hero moves and hits him but not well enough to slow down his next turn. I run the Basher to cover where the Raek could jump to if he wanted to try and get at Madrak. I score another Scenario point on my side flag putting me at 3-0.
Legion Four, Things are looking grim! He vengeance moves his Warmonger and hits a Champ that spreads it out and attacks back and finishes the Warmonger. He looks over the table and with me at 3 points and him getting low on troops he knows that he either has to kill my caster to win or spread himself thin to make sure I don't score one on his turn. He decides that the day has been mine and concedes and gives me the Jackron Pillar area of our map. Every turn we were rolling out the lightning pillars and they did a few points of damage here and there but the winning pillar was when it shot through one of his Rotwings blowing it up and the Trolls enjoyed fried chicken!
Trolls take the area and I move all my characters and Warlocks into the area. My brother now has to decide is he going to attempt the Timberlands again or try the Tundra.
