Opening Night
The game to start the game!
Well tonight we were able to get our first game in! We decided to start off with a small scout encounter and there are 2 types of scout groups that we can run one is a Warlock with just beast points totaling a 0 point army or an army without a Warlock that we would decide on the point size. The good part is it makes the game small and quick the bad part is it messes up the balancing act that the designers intended. I personally feel like my army needs units to do well and Legion does great with Beast/Lock setups.
The Power of Dhunia Children of the Dragon
Ragnor Kryssa
Mauler X2 Azrael
Whelps Protector
Craelix
After the set up and the scenario roll out landed on "Spread the Net" I won the roll and chose to go first. here is how the map looked after deployment.
I honestly thought he would deploy on the right to protect the flag on his side. If I would have known I would have put a whelp on that side to go snag scenario points on the flag but hind sight is always 20x20 All his models are stand in's. My thought was to rush up the middle take his alpha strike with my feat up and punish him for coming at me. I think it was a great plan... But... I put the bait mauler up too far because after beating on him he just used tactical supremacy to back off far enough I could not charge in with my second mauler. My first mauler did survive to my astonishment so I dropped 2 large hits and beat back his protector then hit his caster once and was full on fury. Ashen Veil forces the boosted attacks trolls are not very accurate unless people are knocked down. :) I score my second Scenario point and he starts his third turn pop's his feat and goes all out killing one mauler and leaving only seven HP on the other. He scores 2x and finishes his turn. this leaves me with two logical options. One drop a shockwave on his casters head or try and take out Azrael in the middle and go for a Scenario win. doing the numbers I figure I might not be able to take out Azreal needing 8's to hit and spending all my Fury to buff him up to Pow 21 it would be dice plus one and he would need to spend one to regen before I could even get it all started.. As far as the Shockwave if I can roll an 8 on 3 dice to hit and a 10 on 3 dice to damage he cant transfer so that would be game. 2 rolls of average dice these choices stress me out because my dice seem to want others to beat me. Well I go for it anyways and I roll an 8 with the chance to hit! Woot one down. I roll for the damage totally anticipating me not being able to finish him off. BOOM!!! I roll another 8. Lol, So his caster is down to 2 HP darn. My mauler cant stop the loss so I end my turn and he scores 2x and I score 1 making him 4 and me 3 so all he needs to do is end his turn and he wins via the Scenario.
Sure we could have rolled out the inevitable but time is gold so he takes this one and now has to decide where on the map he is going to start and where he will take his first turn. More to come!
