Trolls Turn One

Image
I decided to attack the area with the Jackron pillars. That is also the reason I decided to make them a few weeks ago. Me and my brother decided to shorten the time spent talking about our lists we would share them with each other once we had both decided on who/what our list would be. So after I let him know where we would be fighting we went to work building our lists. Here is what we decided. Band of Heroes                               Primal Terrors Madrak Ironhide                             Thragosh Prophet of Everblight Dire Troll Mauler                             Ammok the Truthbearer Troll Axer...

Fennblade UA

Image
The Fennblade officer and drummer! What a great attachment for this unit. The officer grants Cleave (a second attack if the first kills) and he also has a mini feat that gives the unit Pathfinder and +2" on the charge, really getting these guys moving. On their mini feat turn without any external buffs they threat 13" imagine giving them a speed buff from Jarl and watching them charge something that is 15" away. There are not many models that can compete with that kind of threat range. The drummer grants reposition so after you charge their front line that was 13" out and kill a few models then you get to reposition 3" and Jam up their second line or rearrange a little for the counter attack. I think they are decent I painted them a while ago and I can tell that I am a better painter now but as far as the paint job lets just say I wont be repainting them any time in the near future. Here is a closer picture of the wounded drummer. Normally the best lo...

Fennblades

Fennblades! Painting full units that are 10 models takes time. I don't know how much time I spent on this whole unit because I would paint 2-5 models and then have to go paint something else then come back to paint a few more and I finally finished them and I am super happy with their look all together. While painting this unit is when I realized that yellow tabards is what I wanted to do with my army. I recently front arc'd them and finished up the bases so I feel like they are worthy enough to be shared.   Tactics on these guys are pretty straight forward. Don't let your opponent shoot them off the table. Make sure you are the one doing the charging. I believe they were designed as anti Calvary since they have a rule that allows them to ignore impact attacks and collateral damage. They are faster than the standard troll and with 2" melee range they out threat most of our other models. They are easy to remove off the table and even though they have vengeance yo...

Sons of Bragg

Image
Sons of Bragg. First to explain more or less what a fell caller is. In battle if troll forces were overrun and started falling back the fell caller is a hero that sings in battle and they are normally equipped with a large torch to be seen easily. So, easy to see and easy to hear makes them a place where other troops could go to rally and fight back. In game terms they are support models that hand out buffs through their songs (calls) and help units of models. The Sons of Bragg are 3 legendary fell callers who also happen to be brothers. If that means brothers in arms or actual blood brothers I don't know. They have songs that they sing and unfortunately only help themselves with them. They each have a little different weapon load out so they can fill different jobs depending on what they need to do and I think they do that well. Here are all 3 of them together. Starting off with Wrathar, he is the one in charge here and carries a great sword that has a longer reach ...

Champion Hero

Image
Trollkin Champion Hero! This Hero has seen good and bad days. Back when I first painted him a long, long time ago I did not paint his tabard because I was still in the middle of trying to figure out what color I really wanted them to be. Now that I finally have a color scheme picked out and he is currently part of my list I decided it is time to finish him. Over the years the rules on this model have changed a bit. Currently he grants retaliatory strike (the ability to hit someone back right after they hit you) to champions that are in his command range. I am excited now that the champions have Sanguine bond. (the ability to share damage between the unit) I am hoping to punish those that attempt to kill my champions. To try and increase the likelihood of them living I will be taking a Krielstone Bearer to increase their armor. If my memory serves me correctly I believe he used to grant some sort of (champs can see and move through other champs). Madrak 1 has an abilit...

Mauler

Image
I have been taking the time to paint new front arc's on a lot of my older models and now that they have bases and front arc's ready I feel like they are finally ready to share with the world. This model has been through a lot. To start off the week that I got him painted he was out on my desk and my little 2 year old decided to climb up on the computer tower to reach him and then dropped him and since then he has had a few dings in his paint and a broken tooth. I did not glue the tooth in right away and now I cant even find the little thing so he has been without a tooth for a few years... I did take a little bit of red and clean up his hair since that is where most of the chipped paint was. Here he is! The Mauler is the reason I chose Trollbloods as a faction. I still remember talking to my older brother and him saying something along the lines of modeling/painting is going to be 80% of the hobby. He was right on the money I am sure I have spent lots more time gluing and ...

Jackron Pillars

Image
The Jackron Pillars. So I plan on attacking the Jackron Pillars area and with that in mind I needed to prepare a few Pillars for the fun that we have planned out in the event on the table. So here is a little bit of terrain fun. First the idea of these pillars is that they will be shooting lightning between them. As far as the history behind the area we did not really come up with a backstory but my thought is that the area has huge build ups of energy that has been stored and collected over hundreds of years as a result of a science experiment gone wrong. The result is fields and fields of these pillars that are sitting there discharging and collecting this electric energy. First I decided that I would make them out of a wooden dowel I needed six so I cut them up and I had these little jewelry beads that I figured I could turn into electrical nodes or something... Once I had them all cut up and glued I thought that they looked pretty good. I normally just use a Supe...
